Leon Lewis entertains HVSUP Chapter Members on Zion & Shunesburg History!
In our June Meeting, We met at the American Legion Hall to listen to F. Leon Lewis regale us with his wit and charm! Leon, an old time resident of Rockville, Utah, took time out of his busy life to tell us about the history of Zion Park, and along with that some of the history of Shunesburg! His opening remark went something like this: “Someone asked me the other day how old I was.” I said, “Well, I’ve been in Rockville, and I have experienced five 100 year floods, you can judge my age from that.”
Leon is a wonderful poet, sage, philosopher and friend. We had a large crowd there to listen to him. He served as one of our presenters on a bus to Zion during the Convention last year. Everyone loved listening to his slow drawl, and down to earth wisdom. We were indeed blessed to have had him speak to us.
The dinner was pot-luck, and scrumptious as always! There are not too many chapters who have pot-luck, and when asked why they don’t, they say it is too risky. They obviously haven’t been to one of our meetings. Only twice in the past 21 years have there ever been problems. One night we had all desserts, and the very next meeting we had all main dishes! Guest who come to our dinners are blown away at how good they are. Our compliments to each chef who helps to provide such successful meals.Download Newsletter
